The Chair of Marketing is pleased to welcome a new doctor: Malte Christ has successfully defended his dissertation. In his oral defense, he presented his work at an excellent level and answered the examination committee’s questions convincingly.

The monograph is entitled “Brand Love Knows No Age: An Empirical Comparison of Brand-Loving and Brand-Liking Consumers Across the Lifespan.” The dissertation shows that emotional brand relationships are not a phenomenon limited to younger consumers, but also play a significant role in older age. The work illustrates how brand love and brand liking emerge, are experienced, and are used for emotional self-regulation across the lifespan. In doing so, it provides new insights into a target group that has so far received little attention in brand relationship research.

The chair warmly congratulates Dr. Malte Christ on successfully completing his doctorate and thanks the members of the doctoral committee: Prof. Dr. Michael Fallgatter, Prof. Dr. Hans Frambach, Prof. Dr. Dirk Temme, and Prof. Dr. Stefan Zielke.
