Final theses

The Chair of Marketing supervises theses for Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes within the scope of its capacities.

Thesis topics

The Chair of Marketing currently offers theses in the following subject areas:

1. brand names

2. brand routines

3. AI-supported digital customer twins

4. digital brand communication

 

In addition to these topics, it is generally possible to propose your own research and practical topics, which should have a fit with the orientation of the Chair of Marketing.

Application process

Deadlines: The registration period for a thesis in the winter semester begins on 15 May and ends on15 June, the registration period for a thesis in the summer semester begins on 15 December and ends on 15 January.

Procedure: Please write an exposé on your most favoured topic or on your own suggested topic. In your exposé, please refer to what you consider to be the three most relevant sources from the scientific literature on this topic (apart from the starting literature given in each case). Please also explain your personal motivation (against the background of your own CV, your professional goals, etc.) as to why you would like to write a thesis at the Chair of Marketing. The synopsis should not exceed 500 words. Please follow the guidelines for theses when writing your exposé. Please use the data form below for your application. Among other things, please indicate alternative topics (order of preference with regard to the different topics) and submit a CV and transcript of records.

You will usually receive an acceptance or rejection letter at the end of the month following the application deadline. If you are accepted, you must confirm this by the 7th day of the following month.

Information on data processing

1. Description and scope of data processing

On our website, we offer students the opportunity to submit a thesis application for a Bachelor's or Master's degree programme by providing personal data. The data is entered into an input mask and transmitted to us. As part of the further registration process, the data is transferred to the relevant administrative software and stored there.

The following personal data is collected as part of the enquiry process:

  • Name: title, surname and first name of the person registering.

  • E-mail address: e-mail address to be used for queries and notifications in connection with the registration.

  • Telephone: Telephone number to be used for queries and notifications in connection with the enrolment. The student is free to provide a telephone number.

  • Matriculation number: Matriculation number of the student at the University of Wuppertal.

  • Subject semester: Current subject semester according to the valid certificate of enrolment.

  • Type of thesis: Bachelor's or Master's thesis.

  • Marketing seminarattended: Has a seminar been taken at the chair in the past?

  • Expose: The student is asked to prepare and submit an expose on the preferred topic.

  • Order of preference regarding the different topics: The student can submit a preference for the topics offered by the chair.

  • Curriculum vitae: The student is asked to submit a curriculum vitae.

  • Transcript of records: The student is asked to submit a current transcript of records.

  • The following data will also be stored at the time of form submission: Date and time of enrolment.

As part of the registration process, the user's consent to the processing of this data is obtained. The data will not be passed on. The user will only be contacted as part of the study programme.



2. Legal basis for data processing

The legal basis for the processing of the data is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a and b GDPR if the user has given consent. The enquiry serves to carry out administrative measures.

3 Purpose of the data processing

 

The collection of personal data is essential for the allocation of supervision places for final theses within the framework of available capacities at the chair. In particular, the name of the applicant is of utmost importance for identification. The Chair of Business Administration, in particular Marketing, offers the use of the web form.

4. Duration of storage

The data transferred to the administrative software remains stored there for the purpose of documentation and enrolment history.


5 Possibility of objection and cancellation
